Holiday Fun in Northern Virginia

Northern Virginia is a magical place during the holidays, with tons of holiday events to add to your calendar. 

We have picked a few of our favorite Northern Virginia holiday events.

Meadowlark Winter Walk of Lights - Vienna, VA

Now through January 8th, in Vienna, the Meadowlark Winter Walk of lights at 9750 Meadowlark Gardens Court is an excellent opportunity to bundle up with the family and experience a magical holiday light display. 

Saunter through the winter wonderland decorated with over half a million lights and holiday displays. Displays feature birds, flowers, and forest creatures. Along the .6-mile trek, stop by the snack stand to grab some hot chocolate. 

Tickets to Meadowlark Winter Walk of Lights are $16 online and $20 at the door through December 8th. Beginning December 9th, admission is $18 and only available online. Hours are 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm. 

Bull Run Festival of Lights - Centreville, VA

The Bull Run Festival of Lights is a 2.5-mile breathtaking drive-through holiday display. 

Through January 8th, 2023, pack the family up, get cozy in the car, and drive through a spectacular lights display featuring Santa Claus and fairytale vignettes like Hansel and Gretel. You will arrive at a holiday village featuring a carnival at the end of the lights display. Tickets start at $30.

Christmas in Middleburg - Middleburg, VA

For two days only, the weekend of December 2nd and 3rd, the century-long tradition of Christmas in Middleburg, kicks off Northern Virginia’s holiday season.

The weekend includes holiday activities like tree lighting, caroling, a Christmas parade, and the highlight of the merriment, Saturday’s “Middleburg Hunt and Hounds Review.”

The “Middleburg Hunt and Hounds Review” begins at 11 am and features hounds and mounted foxhunt riders cantering down Washington Street. 

Christmas in Middleburg is an excellent opportunity for a family weekend or a romantic getaway.

New Year’s Eve at First Night Alexandria - Arlington, VA

First Night Alexandria in Old Town is a magical place to ring in the new year.

This family-friendly event welcomes 2023 with live performances by new artists to seasoned professionals, over 20 indoor venues like art galleries and historic sites, and an incredible fireworks display over the river. A portion of all proceeds supports music programs in Alexandria City middle and high schools. 

Tickets range from free, for children two and under, to $75 for the VIP Priority Access Pass.
