Summary: What is Going on with the Market in Northern Virginia?

A few things are in play right now that are driving the market: the economy, the stock market, and interest rates. However, these things are not where our expertise lies. Our profession is real estate and we want to help buyers and sellers understand what is going on in our local market - the same way we help dozens of clients navigate through selling and purchasing homes each month. 

Currently, this is the strongest housing market we have ever seen. There has never been a better time to sell a home. Because of this incredibly hot seller's market, the question we often hear is, "Will this continue?" 

We answer: "If we had to bet on it, we would bet that this market is here to stay for at least the next year or two."

Is this a Housing Bubble?

As far as a housing bubble is concerned, there simply is not enough inventory for that to happen. We don't see foreclosures or short sales, and in general, Northern Virginia doesn't have enough homes for sale.

Because of low inventory without foreclosures and short sales, we firmly believe this seller's market will be here for quite some time.
