Holton-Arms School: Bethesda, Maryland

Ranked the best private K through 12 school in Maryland by Niche, a leader in education data, Holton-Arms School offers a well-rounded education for girls grades 3 through 12. Holton also ranks as the number one STEM high school in Maryland and the best private high school in Maryland. Holton has a 100% graduation rate with averages of 1380 SAT and 32 ACT scores.

Landon School: Bethesda, Maryland

Top-ranked Landon School is Niche's best all-boys high school in Maryland. Landon serves male students from grade 3 through 12. With a 100% graduation rate, an average SAT score of 1340, and an average 31 ACT score, Landon academically ranks higher than any other all-boys school in the state.

Chapelgate Christian Academy: Marriottsville, Maryland

Located on 63 elegant acres in Western Howard County, Chapelgate Christian Academy (CCA) serves students grades Pre-K to 12th in a coed, faith-based setting. CCA is split into three campuses - elementary, middle, and high school. 

CCA provides students with an expanded fine arts program that offers everything from choir to drama, dance, and photography. The college prep school also offers a competitive sports program that regularly sees the playoffs.

Howard County Public Schools

Clarkesville Elementary School and Clarksville Middle School, both located in Clarksville, and Waverly Elementary School in Elliot City are at the top of the list of best schools in the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS). Since implementing the Maryland schools star system in 2018, the majority of all HCPSS schools consistently earn four and five stars, higher than any other Maryland public school system.

Howard County Public Schools System was ranked the number one Maryland public school district in 2021 by Niche. HCPSS is home to 77 schools (28 Pre-K, 43 elementary schools, 22 middle schools, and 14 high schools) and just over 58,000 students. The student-to-teacher ratio at HCPPS is 14 to 1, lower than the state average for public schools.
